Bernalillo County Fire Rescue was established on September 15, 1958, and has grown from a single station department to a fully paid, thirteen-district department that staffs five to seven paid personnel per station, twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.
In addition to comprehensive fire training, all firefighters have medical training and are licensed at either the EMT-Basic, Intermediate or Paramedic level. All stations and fire districts are staffed at the advanced life support (ALS) level.
BCFR is the second largest fire department in the state with over 296 uniformed positions and continues to grow to meet the needs of the community. These positions rank from Firefighter to Fire Chief. Shifts consist of 48 hours on and 96 hours off.
Our firefighter classroom training offers unparalleled depth of knowledge and practical skills for future firefighters. Join the #hottest team in New Mexico
