Embark on Your Firefighting Career
The Bernalillo County Fire Cadet Academy is a 28-week, intensive training program that prepares cadets for a career in firefighting. Cadets work Monday through Thursday from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM, engaging in physical training, classroom learning, and hands-on skill development. The curriculum exceeds the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress's Fire Fighter I and Fire Fighter II certification standards.

New State-of-the-Art Training Facility
Our state-of-the-art fire training academy stands as a testament to our commitment to excellence in public safety. This cutting-edge facility provides our firefighters with the most advanced training available, ensuring they are prepared to face any challenge and protect our communities.
Equipped with a 5 story training tower , the newest training props and high tech specialized classrooms. The approximately 41,000 square-foot facility houses a lecture hall, eight classrooms with audio and visuals aids, a dedicated fitness center for physical training and much more. the academy allows firefighters to hone their skills in a safe and controlled environment. From basic firefighting techniques to advanced emergency response scenarios, our academy offers comprehensive training programs that equip firefighters with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to effectively serve our community.
